BUSH THREATENS FIRST VETO OVER PORT DEAL? HE'S JOKING, RIGHT?

I have examined, analyzed, and tried looking at this port deal from all angles and I just can’t figure out for the life of me why President George W. Bush is standing so strong on this idea of turning the operations of 6 US ports; New York, New Jersey, Baltimore, New Orleans, Miami, and Philadelphia, over to a company that is owned by the United Arab Emirates government. Which is an Islamic government by the way.

Security experts are pretty much in agreement that if, and that is a very likely to happen if, a nuclear device is ever attempted to be smuggled into this country, the weapon will arrive in a container through one of our ports. Maybe, it is just me, but does anyone else see why it might not be a good idea to give control of our ports to an Islamic government?

Let this run through your head for a moment. The so called, peaceful religion of Islam is involved in most of the shooting conflicts around the world today. I do not know the exact numbers but there are approximately 130 shooting conflicts. In about 97% of those conflicts you will find Muslims on one side or another. There is only one major world religion out there that has the goal of world domination. There is only one religion out there that a great majority of it has declared war on our country, and which is dedicated to the goal of killing as many Americans as they possibly can. That religion is Islam.

Many people don't seem to realize it, but like it or not, the Western world now finds itself in the middle of World War IV, the war against Islamic terrorism. (Yes, WW IV, World War III was the "Cold War.") So, just how is it that it makes sense to the President of the United States to turn over the operations of six critical American ports to an Islamic government ...especially an Islamic government with established ties to terrorists who have already struck and killed thousands of Americans? I can’t figure it out. We are in a war! This would make just about as much sense as putting the Germans in charge of our ports back during World War II.

So now we have members of congress from both parties talking about not allowing this deal to go through and this is where President Bush wants to use his first veto? Are you kidding me? Please tell me this is a joke? How many budgets has the President signed with no threat of a veto? Six of them? We've seen non-defense government spending go through the roof throughout his administration at record rates, and never once a veto, not even a hint of a veto. So now Bush has finally found something he wants to veto. He wants to veto any bill that would prevent the turnover of six critical ports to a Muslim government. This is just insane!!!! Ronald Reagan must be turning and screaming in disgust in his grave right now.

President Bush has said: "I want those who are questioning it to step up and explain why all of a sudden a Middle Eastern company is held to a different standard than a [British] company."

OK ... not a problem, I will give you 5 good reasons right off the top of my head, Before I start though let me just say this the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company, the British company selling the American ports operations to Dubai Ports World, is a private company. Peninsular is not owned by the government of Great Britain. Dubai Ports world is a state-owned company, in other word it is owned by the government of United Arab Emirates. So, what we have here is a private company selling its rights to operate these six ports in the Untied States to a government ... an Islamic government.

So, to answer Bush's question as to ...why all of a sudden a Middle Eastern company is held to a different standard than a [British] company." let's start with this correction. It's a Middle Eastern government that's being held to a different standard than a British company.

Governments often use deadly force to accomplish their goals. Private companies do not. There, President Bush is your reason numbero uno, and the only reason that I need for a different standard. But I promised 5 so let's move on to compare Great Britain to the UAE.

2. The 9/11 hijackers did not use Great Britain as an operational and financial base for the planning and funding of their attacks on the United States. The 9/11 hijackers DID use the United Arab Emirates as an operational and financial base for the planning and funding of their attacks on the United States.

3. None of the 9/11 hijackers came from Great Britain. Two of the 9/11 hijackers came from the United Arab Emirates

4. Great Britain did not recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan. The Taliban, you may remember, provided the operational base for the operations of Al Qaeda. The United Arab Emirates DID recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan.

5. Supporters of this move will tell you that there are already foreign companies already running most of American port operations. We're not talking about a foreign company here. We're talking about a foreign government. See reason numbero uno.

There just has to be something going on here that I am not seeing. Something undisclosed. The Bush White House just can't be this blind to the legitimate concerns of the people and of those in Congress who are concerned about this move… can they?

Meanwhile, The Australian Government Issues Travel Advisery To United Arab Emirates

On Sunday, the Australian government issued the following alert to its citizens: "We advise you to exercise a high degree of caution in the United Arab Emirates because of the high threat of terrorist attack. We continue to receive reports that terrorists are planning attacks against Western interests in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Commercial and public areas frequented by foreigners are possible terrorist targets."

Hmmm... Now that is interesting don't you think. The Australians are worried about the high threat of terrorists activities in the UAE while the United States is busy turning over its ports to the nation. Cal Thomas has more.

You Know It Is A Bad Deal When Jimmy Carter Thinks It Is All Right.

Well, we can all relax now, Jimmy Carter are amazing 39th President has spoken in favor of the port deal. Of course it is no surprise that the appeaser of appeasers, would stand in favor of the idea of turning the operation of these American ports over to an Islamic government. Jimmy Carter thinks this is all such a great idea that he's actually praising George W. Bush for the move!

There you go. The man who gave away the Panama Canal, the man who believed the Communist Soviet Union when they told him that they were building a highway for delivering humanitarian aid into Afghanistan. Then cried they lied to me when the Soviets used it to invade, he thinks that virtually handing over these American points is just a great idea.

This is how you know the deal is a bad idea. Jimmy Carter supports it.

Saddam To Hang Within Months

The chief prosecutor in Saddam Hussein's trial says he could hang within months if he is found guilty of ordering the massacre of 140 people from the town of Dujail, the chief prosecutor in the former Iraqi dictator's trial has said.

And the ousted Iraqi dictator, who faces 11 other charges, will not be able to cheat the hangman by dragging out legal proceedings in a series of trials.

The prosecutor, Ja'afar Moussawi, said that under a law passed late last year, all death sentences must be carried out within 30 days of an appeal failing, regardless of any other charges.

"Once one of the accused on the Dujail case, for example, has been sentenced to death, then he won't be tried on other charges," Mr Moussawi said in an interview. "Other charges will automatically be dropped against that particular defendant, even if the case itself is brought against others."

Now there is a death row system done right. We should start that here. If you get sentenced to death you die within in 30 days not 10-20 years.

Speaking Of The Death Penalty...

They're delaying the execution of a cold blooded killer in California. His name is Michael Morales. He killed a 17-year-old girl 23 years ago in California. 23 years ago and he is still alive. she didnt even make it to 23, he beat her with a hammer, then he stabbed her and left her laying half-naked in a vineyard.

The only reason Morales is still breathing is because he has a team of defense lawyers trying to prevent his execution. They want to make sure that he feels no pain as he is put to death by lethal injection. Federal courts are going along with this insanity. How sick is this? I wonder if his 17 year old victim felt any pain. This predator beats a woman with a hammer, stabs her, and leaves her to die. Now he's complaining because his execution may hurt. I say more painful the better, but either way let's just send him to his eternal dirt nap and get it done with.

I Wonder If Any One Told Roberts And Alito About Days Like This.

Anna Nicole Smith goes before the Supreme Court today to fight for her half of her late husbands estate. She says that it was promised to her by him, his son says she shouldn't get any of it. Geez... I wonder if anyone told John Roberts and Robert Alito that there would be days like this.

An Overveiw on Why I Support The Fair Tax and what it will do for you and America

I strongly support the Fair Tax Plan and believe that it would be the biggest transfer of power from politicians to citizens since the end of the Revolutionary War.

Here is just a over veiw of what the Fair Tax is and what it will do for you and America.

The FairTax proposal is a comprehensive plan to replace federal income and payroll taxes, including personal, gift, estate, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security/Medicare, self-employment, and corporate taxes. The FairTax proposal integrates such features as a progressive national retail sales tax, dollar-for-dollar revenue replacement, and a rebate to ensure that no American pays such federal taxes up to the poverty level. Included in the FairTax plan is the repeal of the 16th Amendment to the Constitution. The FairTax allows Americans to keep 100 percent of their paychecks (minus any state income taxes), ends corporate taxes and compliance costs hidden in the retail cost of goods and services, and fully funds the federal government while fulfilling the promise of Social Security and Medicare.

Americans take home their whole paychecks.
Not only do more Americans have jobs, but they also take home 100 percent of their paychecks (except where state income taxes apply). No federal income taxes or payroll taxes are withheld from paychecks, pensions, or Social Security checks.

No federal sales tax up to the poverty level means progressivity like today's tax system.
To ensure no American pays tax on the necessities of life, the FairTax plan provides a prepaid, monthly rebate (prebate) for every registered household to cover the consumption tax spent on necessities up to the federal poverty level. This, along with several other features, is how the FairTax completely untaxes the poor, lowers the tax burden on most, while making the overall rate progressive. However, the FairTax is progressive based on lifestyle/spending choices, rather than simply punishing those taxpayers who are successful. Do you see how much freer life is with the FairTax instead of the income tax?

Retail prices no longer hide corporate taxes or their compliance costs, which drive up costs for those who can least, afford to pay.
Did you know that hidden income taxes and the cost of complying with them currently make up 20 percent or more percent of all retail prices? It's true. According to Dr. Dale Jorgenson of Harvard University, hidden income taxes are passed on to the consumer in the form of higher prices - from an average 22 percent on goods to an average 25 percent on services - for everything you buy. If competition does not allow prices to rise, corporations lower labor costs, again hurting those who can least afford to lose their jobs. Finally, if prices are as high as competition allows and labor costs are as low as practical, profits/dividends to shareholders are driven down, thereby hurting retirement savings for moms-and-pops and pension funds invested in Corporate America. With the FairTax, the sham of corporate taxation ends, competition drives prices down, more people in America have jobs, and retirement/pension funds see improved performance.

The FairTax will stop job out sourcing, brings jobs home and make American products more competitive on the world market.
Most importantly, the FairTax does not burden U.S. exports as they are with the current income tax. So the FairTax allows U.S. exports to sell overseas for prices 22 percent lower, on average, than they do now, with similar profit margins. Lower prices sharply increase demand for U.S. exports, thereby increasing job creation in U.S.manufacturing sectors. At home, imports are subject to the same FairTax rate as domestically produced goods. Not only does the FairTax put U.S. products sold here on the same tax footing as foreign imports, but the dramatic lowering of compliance costs in comparison to other countries' value-added taxes also gives U.S. products a definitive pricing advantage which foreign tax systems cannot match.

Tax criminals - don't make criminals out of honest taxpayers.
Today, the IRS will admit to 25 percent non-compliance with the code. FairTax.org will be generous and simply take the position that this is likely a conservative estimate of the underground economy. However, this does not take into account the criminal/drug/porn economy, which equally conservative estimates put at one trillion dollars of untaxed activity. The FairTax will tax this - criminals love to flash that cash at retail - while continuing to provide the federal penalties so effective in bringing such miscreants to justice. The substantial decrease in points of compliance - from every wage earner, investor, and retiree, down to only retailers - also allows enforcement to concentrate on following the money to criminal activity, rather than making potential criminals out of every taxpayer struggling to decipher the current code.

No Tax Penalty On Savings or Investments. Under the fair tax plan you can save and invest however you want, no tax penalty on interest from savings, withdrawl money from investment and retirement accounts with no tax penalty.

No More Forms to Fill Out And File. This one is by far my favorite. Never have to file any kind of IRS form again. Make April 15 just another beutiful spring day.

Biffle Wins Busch Race, Holds Off A Hard Chargin Edwards.

Did anyone see that NASCAR Bucsh race??? Carl Edwards can drive a race car, he is just simply awsome!!! and quickly becoming my favorite driver.

Edwards had a good car all day running in the top 5 and leading several laps in the race. He had the lead when the caution flag came out late in the race. So he decides to pit because his tires are 10 laps older than everyone elses. Problem is he is the only car out of the 10 on the lead lap that comes in to pit.

When he went into the pits under that caution I thought he was done and wondered why did he do that for? If he stayed out he would have had a top 5 finish.

So he gets his 4 tires comes back out on the track and is now in 10th place. Another problem though, all the lap traffic is lined up on the inside line so it is more like beng in 20th place.

Anyways, the green flag comes back out with 10 laps to go. Carl Edwards starts driving the wheels off of this car. He passes 5 cars in one turn and with 5 laps to go he is in 4th place. 3 laps to go he passes Burton for 3rd place and on the final lap almost gets around Ryan Neuman for 2nd. Simply one of the most amazing things I have seen in NASCAR in a while.

I am telling you that kid can drive!

Medal of Honor Winner Not Worthy of Memorial Statue at Univ. of Washington.

Gregory “Pappy” Boyington served as a combat pilot in World War II with the 1st Squadron, American Volunteer Group. This squadron was known as the Flying Tigers of China. Boyington later served as a combat pilot for the U.S. Marine Corps. He commanded Marine Fighting Squadron 214. You may have heard of this squadron before. It was called the Black Sheep Squadron and was later featured in a TV series called "Baa Baa, Black Sheep." Boyington is credited for shooting down 26 Japanese fighter planes while serving in the Pacific. He was later shot down and captured by the enemy. He spent 20 months in the worst place you could possibly end up during WW II, a Japanese POW camp. Unfortunately, most of you probably didn’t learn a whole lot about World War II history other than we were attacked at Pearl Harbor by the Japanese and we fought Hitler and the Nazis in Europe and won.

Anyways, a Japanese POW camp was about the last place you wanted to be. In fact the torture was so bad in these camps, and we are talking about real torture, not some Abu Ghraib let me take a snapshot of you naked on a human pyramid kind of torture, that many Allied troops would refuse surrender and fight until the death just to avoid capture. Pappy Boyington survived the Japanese POW camp and after the war Pappy Boyington was awarded the Navy Cross and the Medal of Honor. He died in 1988. You can visit his grave in Arlington National Cemetery.

Pappy Boyington is a graduate of the University of Washington. Just recently, Student Senator member Andrew Everett, proposed the idea of erecting a memorial on the campus of the University of Washington to honor this great American Hero who served in WW II, was shot down, captured by the enemy, later awarded the Medal of Honor and the Navy Cross made its way to the student senate. Now you would think that building some sort of monument would seem fitting and be a good idea wouldn’t you. After all “Pappy” has earned it.

Well not so fast...Member of the Student Senate Jill Edwards, and leader of the Student Democrat Party at U of W, doesn't seem to agree. When the discussion of a resolution calling for a tribute to Pappy Boyington came up Student senate member Jill Edwards immediately tried to side track the resolution. She wanted other issues to be considered. Another member said that the issue was at the top of the agenda and should be dealt with. There was then some discussion on why Andrew Everett wanted the memorial. Everett responded that Colonel Boyington "had many of the qualities the University of Washington hoped to produce in its students." Well... that's when Jill Edwards spoke up and showed her true feelings on the subject. She questioned whether it was appropriate to honor a person who killed other people. Then Jill Edwards said that a member of the Marine Corps was not an example of the sort of person the University of Washington wanted to produce.

There you have it. Jill Edwards, a junior in Mathematics at the University of Washington, says that a U.S. Marine is NOT the example of the sort of person that the University of Washington wants to produce. To all of you men and women out there who have served with pride in the United States Marine Corps; to those of you who fought in World War II, Korea, Vietnam and the Middle East, Jill Edwards, student senate member at the University of Washington, thinks that you are unworthy to be graduates of the University of Washington.

Oh and she is not the only one that was opposed to this memorial on the U of W student senate. Senate member Karl Smith wanted to amend the resolution to eliminate a clause that said Boyington "was credited with destroying 26 enemy aircraft, tying the record for most aircraft destroyed by a pilot in American Uniform," for which he was awarded the Navy Cross.

Smith, according to the minutes, said "the resolution should commend Colonel Boyington's service, not his killing of others."

Ashley Miller says that there are already enough monuments at UW commemorating "rich white men." Well, I guess you have to get that racist wealth-envy stuff in there somewhere. However, I wonder if it would have made a difference to Ashley if she knew that Pappy Boyington was not rich and wasn't even white!!!

According to a blogger who host a blog named Parodosis who says he met Boyington on numerous occasions at museums and air shows over the years noted the famous flyer "was no rich boy," having grown up in a struggling family in which he was forced to work hard to make it through school and never lived off government grants...personally I wonder if those students who "shot this memorial down" could remotely say the same. He also pointed out Boyington was part Sioux.

Don't you just love these young college kids? Most of them have never faced a day in the real world. Never, held a real job, never had to work to pay the rent. Most of them go to class, live off their student loans with out a worry in the world yet they have all of the answers to every problem facing mankind.

It also seems that many do not even have the realization or the appreciation that brave men and women fought and currently fight so that they could have the opportunity to live in the greatest nation in the world and without the sacrifices of such great Americans like Pappy Boyington they wouldn't even have the many freedoms that they enjoy on a daily basis.

One must wonder, with these college kids ability to so quickly judge and compare our war veterans as murderers, what are they being taught in college and if they truly believe that our veterans are murderers instead of heroes then they do not deserve one minute of freedom from the amount of time that has been sacrificed on their behalf.

Of course, not all the students at the University of Washington have lost there mind. Brent Ludeman, president of the university's College Republicans said, the decision "reflects poorly on the university.""Pappy Boyington went beyond the call of duty to serve and protect this country and he simply deserves better," Ludeman said. "Just last year, the university erected a memorial to diversity. Why can't we do the same for Pappy Boyington and others who have defended our country?"

In deed, why can't we?

To me, men like Pappy Boyington capture the meaning of the American Spirit standing against what is wrong to make it right at any cost to include giving their life proudly so that others may live theres in freedom.

These students at the University of Washington haven't earned the right to speak on behalf of Col. Boyington and as it would appear they have not fully "studied" the subject of their debate. Boyington, like so many others in the complete history of our country are no more than common men who displayed uncommon valor in the face of adversity. I ask each of those members of the Student Senate that opposed or spoke out in such disdain towards Boyington: What have any of you done for your country and countrymen that comes anywhere close to the uncommon valor displayed by Col. Boyington or anyone who has fought in any war for the protection, preservation and survival of this great nation?

Jimmie Johnson Wins Daytona 500.

It came with 14 laps to go when he squeezed past teammate Brian Vickers to grab the lead just as a caution came out. Johnson was at the front of the field on the restart, the lead driver in a single-file pack of cars sprinting toward the end.

From his rearview window he could see Dale Earnhardt Jr. slicing his way through the field, making a last, desperate push to mark the five-year anniversary of his Dad's death with a win at the track where he died.

But Jamie McMurray wrecked with seven laps to go to bring out one final caution. It set up an overtime finish, but no one was able to challenge him. Earnhardt was the first driver to pull out of line and make a run at Johnson, but got no drafting help and had zero chance of catching him.
Then Ryan Newman took his shot, pulling out from behind Johnson. But just like Junior, he didn't get any assistance and could only squeeze back into place.

There were no more challenges to Johnson, who won in his fifth Daytona try when a final accident brought out the caution and allowed him to cross the finish line under a yellow flag.

Mark Martin Wins Craftsman Truck Race At Daytona.

Mark Martin dominated leading the most laps and winning under caution in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Daytona International Speedway.

Kenseth wins crash-filled Daytona IROC race

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Matt Kenseth started last, avoided two major crashes and held off Martin Truex Jr. on the final lap to win the season-opening IROC series race at Daytona International Speedway on Friday night.

Kenseth quickly worked his way to the front to dominate the race, which was peppered with more aggressive bump drafting and marred by an ugly crash that sent Steve Kinser's car flipping in the air with three laps to go.

Truex briefly took the lead in Turn 2 of the final lap, but Kenseth nudged the rear of his car and he pulled aside. Sam Hornish Jr. pulled aside Kenseth in Turn 3, but Kenseth surged ahead toward the finish line with a push from Frank Kimmel.

It was Kenseth's third career victory in the International Race of Champions.

NASCAR...Helton: Aggressive Driving Will Not Be Tolerated.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR president Mike Helton officially warned drivers on Thursday before the 150-mile qualifying races that bump drafting will not be tolerated.

"This is not as much about bump drafting as it is about aggressive driving,'' Helton said during the drivers' meeting at Daytona International Speedway. "It could be side-to-side.''

Helton said the problem has become magnified because a lot of drivers aren't experienced in the maneuver in which the front end of one car bumps the back end of the other to give both an aerodynamic push.

Done incorrectly or too aggressively, the driver in front often is spun out.

"So what we're doing today is getting into that gray area that we don't get into, and you don't want us to get into,'' Helton said. "But we've reached a point where we need to. So this is it. This is the warning.''

Helton said ultimately the drivers are in control, and that NASCAR reluctantly stepped in.

"But if anything happens and we have to make a call, it's over with,'' he said. "Now we can argue when you come in after the race is over, but it's too bad. It is what it is.

"We didn't want to get into this and you didn't want us to get into it. But due to what is occurring on the racetrack, this is where we are at.''

Here is a better solution... how about just get rid of restrictor plates and let them race the way the sport was meant to be raced?

NASCAR is a aggressive sport always has been. A little history for you. CBS aired the first national televised race. It was the 1979 Daytona 500. Richard Petty took the checkered flag because Cale Yardborugh and Donnie Allison wrecked each other fighting for the lead on the last lap and then got into a fist fight in the Daytona infield. This is clearly aggressive behavior that NASCAR will not tolerate anymore.

How the hell is aggressive driving defined on a race track anyway??? If NASCAR keeps it up they will eventually have to determine who is at fault after each accident on the track. Perhaps the NASCAR police will write citations with fines and make the drivers exchange insurance cards.

Let Them Race!!!

NASCAR continues to try and turn the sport into a gentlemens sport. If they want a gentlemen's sport I say watch or play golf.

CNN Shows Respects For Islam, But What About Catholicism

CNN has refused to show the cartoons depicting Mohammed out of respect for the Islam religion but where was that same respect for the Catholic religion in September of 1998. Now, I remember this story for no other reason than I am Catholic and found it disturbing.

The headline from CNN on September 28, 1999 read "Exhibit controversy makes coffee-table book a hot item." This is a story about a coffee table book with a controversial picture of a so called work of “art” in the book titled “The Holy Virgin Mary” that was flying off the shelves of New York City bookstores. The piece of “art” was done with elephant dung. Catholics, like myself, were less than amused. So, what did CNN do? It published the story complete with a picture of the offending piece. Here's your link to check it out.

Now, let us fast forward to February 6, 2006 and another CNN.com story titled "Danes feel threatened in cartoon row." This story, of course, is about Muslims rioting and threatening death and mayhem because someone drew a cartoon of their prophet Mohammed. Here's your link for the story about these Muslims. Now ... scroll down to the bottom of the story. You'll see the notation "CNN has chosen not to show the cartoons out of respect for Islam." Well, isn't that just so big of them. Go ahead and show a painting of the Virgin Mary created out of elephant crap, but don’t show cartoons of Mohammed. We don't want to insult Muslims, do we? They might riot in the streets. Catholics? Well, who cares about offending them.

Is It The Cartoons? I think Not.

As we continue to watch another week of the media telling us that all of these Muslim riots and demonstrations around the world were due to the "outrage" over those cartoons of Mohammed in those Danish and German newspapers I would like to say it is just not so.

Do you even know how the cartoons lampooning the Prophet Mohammed that are causing this entire ruckus came about? Jack Kelly takes us back to where it all began. If you don't know the complete story, you'll be surprised.

Also the cartoons actually ran 4 months ago in an Egyptian newspaper? There wasn't a peep out of the Islamic rioters then.

Once again, these Muslims are rioting because their Imams are telling them to riot. Most of them have never seen those cartoons and didn't know they even existed until their Imams told them to go out there and protest. It's a manufactured uprising ... and the media needs to stop with this "outrage" line.

Saddam Goes On Hunger Strike.

In his latest effort to continue and disrupt his trial to the point of no conclusion it seams that Saddam is going to go on a hunger strike.

Now if I remember correctly from a story I told you about the other day we learned that according to the United Nations Human Rights Commission force feeding people on a hunger strike is torture. So since we want to make sure we are not torturing anyone let’s grant the wishes of Saddam and make sure he gets not even a bread crumb. That is right, no food for Saddam, wouldn’t want to torture him.

Vice President Accidently Shoots Hunting Buddy.

Oh boy, the news media and the left are just having a blast over this one. Unless you have been living underneath a rock I am sure you know by now that Vice President Dick Cheney accidently shot a hunting buddy with some bird shot while hunting quail in South Texas over the weekend.

We have gotten story after story over this incident. Why did Cheney wait so long to tell the media about this? Why did 24 hours go by before the White House released a statement to the media?

What you will not here or read about from the mainstream media is that this is not unusual. Especially with quail or pheasant hunting. I have heard several stories about hunters accidently being peppered by bird shot in fact my own father has been accidently peppered with bird shot.

I also understand that a lot of people who don't understand hunting have no idea what I am talking about when I say bird shot. Bird Shot is a type of ammo used for hunting small game birds like quail or pheasants. When fired from a shotgun it shoots out small bb like ammo in a spreading pattern. Buck shot works the same way only more lethal. If this had been buck shot Cheney's friend would be accidently dead and if it was a regular bullet, well that would just make Cheney a real dumb and bad hunter.

Correction On What Julian Bond Said About Republicans.

Julian Bond is now claiming that he did not call Republicans Nazis and that he has been targeted by right winged reports like World Net Daily who lies about what he said.

Well, to be fair to Julian Bond I found an audio copy of his speech that was posted by the Fayetteville Observer Online. Here it is so you can listen for yourself to exactly what he said. http://www.fayettevillenc.com/photos/audio/2006/02/0206bondfull.mp3

As it turns out Julian Bond did not directly compare the Republican Party with the Nazi Party but, nevertheless, associated the GOP with what he called the Confederate "swastika.

According to the tape what Bond said was, Republicans' "idea of equal rights is the American flag and the Confederate swastika flying side by side."

It was also reported last week Bond characterized Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and her predecessor, Colin Powell, as tokens.

According to the tape, Bond said, “The Bush administration likes to use former Secretary of State Colin Powell and current Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as kinds of human shields against any criticism of their record on civil rights. After all, they're proud of saying their administration is more diverse than any in history."

Yes, it is the most diverse administration in history. I would just like to thank Julian Bond for pointing out that the Bush Administration has done more for the advancement of colored people than the NAACP.

School Choice Remains Unproven, System Proven Not To Work Remains In Place

John Stossel, the crusader for school choice, reports from South Carolina about the Governors attempt to give all parents the same options he had for his children, school choice.

When newly elected South Carolina Governor arrived in Columbia SC he had to decide where he would send his kids to school. The school district that he lived in was not all that great but since he was the governor he could send his kids out of district to a better school.

He decided that was not fair and elected to send his kids to private school. He then introduced legislature to give all parents the same option of school choice that he was offered. Unfortunately the bill was defeated and the failing system remained intact.

The Free Ride On The Katrina Wave Is Over For Some.

Uh oh. Expect some whining from the left. The deadline ... yet another deadline ... has come for some of the Katrina victims.

Here is some of the report from ABC news:

Hauling everything he owned in a plastic garbage bag, Darryl Travis walked out of the chandeliered lobby of the Crowne Plaza, joining the exodus of Hurricane Katrina refugees evicted from their hotel rooms across the country Tuesday.

Travis, 24, and his five childhood friends all in their 20s had been living on the floor of another evacuee's hotel room, never having registered.

Brittany Brown, 21, wept as she explained that although she had been given an extension, eviction was now looming next week. She applied for a trailer in October and, although she keeps calling, her trailer has yet to show up.

Oh those poor, poor Katrina victims…what a sob story the media has going here. Call me a heartless SOB but I am not shedding any tears for these free loaders. In all of the stories that I have read in the 5 months since we started housing these victims not one time did I ever read about how they were looking for a job or come up with a plan to make their situations better. I did read stories about some victims attending seminars on not how to get jobs but how to get additional free housing from you the taxpayers and the ones that are being evicted today is because they failed to make arrangements to get an extension from the federal government.

Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco complained that FEMA was pulling the plug on the hotel program before securing other housing. Hmmmm…you think she knows where her votes come from.

Why can’t these people secure their own housing by getting a job and buying there own trailer to live in. They have had 5 months, how much longer do they need. In one of the stories above it said 6 of these people shared a hotel room. 6 people working at Mc Donald’s can afford there own house…you don’t think so??? OK Lets do the math.

Minimum wage is 5.15 per hour or more depending where you live. Now lets also say that they paid 20% of their check in taxes. So let’s say our 6 Katrina victims went out and got minimum wage jobs and worked 40 hours a week. That would be roughly 164 dollars a week after taxes per person. Now multiply that by 4 and you have a monthly take home income of 656 dollars per person. That would be 3,936 dollars a month between the six of them. So in 5 months they would have take home pay of roughly 19,680 dollars after taxes. If they continued working they would have a household income of 47,232 dollars after taxes definitely more than enough to afford their own housing.

Unfortunately, these people who live in the land of the greatest opportunity will spend the rest of their lives living a life of government dependency.

Maybe, I am expecting too much, after all it is not their fault that they are in this situation. It’s George W. Bush’s fault. The government is supposed to provide everything for them and he has pulled the plug, probably to pay for his “blood for oil” war in Iraq.

Cindy Sheehan For US Senate!!!!

Cindy Sheehan is considering a run for the US Senate in California. See folks, who needs American Idol when you have Cindy Sheehan running for the Senate. Now that, my friends, would be entertainment.

US Force Feeds Terrorists Determined to Starve Themselves To Death.

The torture continues at Gitmo. According to a story in the New York Times some of the prisoners at Gitmo have decided to commit suicide by starvation so the U.S. Military is having to force-feed Islamic terrorists who are on a hunger strike. So is this considered prison abuse or torture?

Myths of rich and poor

The mainstream media and the left love to tell us that the rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer. But Thomas Sowell calls that a myth, and points to some interesting statistics to back things up. The numbers are shocking. The rich may be getting richer but the poor is definitely not getting poorer. In fact, they never had it so good.

A Victory In Emminant Domain

Here's a small victory for those of us who believe in the concept of private property rights. A Pennsylvania court says that the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority should not have taken a woman's home to hand to a church to build a private school. There's a lesson for our own Supreme Court here.

The Best Web Site I Have Seen In Support Of The Fair Tax.

Here is a web site set up in support of the Fair Tax that is absolutely one of the best I've seen. FairTaxGroups.com. I am going to install a permanent link to this site on my site, but I want to make sure you take a look at it today. There is valuable information about the fair tax, information about town hall meetings and forums to discuss the fair tax.

This issue is so important to me that I will not vote for any candidate that will not support the fair tax no matter how much I agree with them on any other issue. I have already written my US Senator here in N.C. Elizabeth Dole and explained that she has lost my vote and support until she supports the Fair Tax.

Here is why I feel this issue is so important. The current tax code in this country is leading us to a path of economical disaster. In just the last 3 weeks we have been given several warning signs about where our economy is headed. Warren Buffet, world class investor, and definitely someone who knows something about economics, has said that our biggest threat to our economy is not high fuel prices or the federal deficit. He says the greatest danger to our economy is the federal trade deficit, which is the highest it has ever been. The only way to reduce the federal trade deficit is to reform the tax code. There is no other major economic power in the world that places the tax burden on its businesses and industries that the United States does which results in jobs going overseas to enjoy a lesser tax burden.

Another warning sign given is the recent news that our personal savings rate is at its lowest level since the great depression. Our tax code punishes us here as well. You have to pay taxes on the money you save and then you pay taxes on the interest you earn. So really there is no incentive to save.

So here we are facing issues of trade deficits, disappearing manufacturing jobs, and a low personal savings rate. The FairTax is the solution to all of these problems. It will create the biggest tax haven for businesses and industries in the world. You want to see jobs that have gone overseas come back to America and then some make the Fair Tax law. You want to promote personal savings by relieving people of the tax burden when they do save then pass the Fair Tax.

This is just the tip of the iceburg of what the fair tax could do. If it ever passes it would be the biggest transfer in power from politicians to the people since the revolutionary war.

Check out this site learn about the fair tax if you don't know about it, and then get involved with the grass roots effort of making April 15 just another spring day. Here's the link to this amazing website ... take a look.

Chairman of the NAACP Julian Bond Comes To Fayetteville NC, Compares GOP To Nazis.

If you ever want to know when you are beating a liberal in the fight for ideas just wait until they start calling you names and you will know that they have ran out of ideas. Recently, the name calling of choice is to call the President and Republicans Nazis and compare them to Hitler. It is second nature for a liberal to fall back to this defense mechanism. So it should come to no surprise that Julian Bond, Chairman of the National Association For The Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has accused the Republican Party of being Nazis.

Here is the remark from Julian Bond at Fayetteville State University: "The Republican Party would have the American flag and the swastika flying side by side."

The idiocy coming from Bond continued to flow off his tongue last week when he called Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice tokens. I thought the NAACP was suppose to be for the advancement of colored people. I guess they pick and choose who they want to help advanced and really if you think about they seem to have a real poor record of advancing colored people. Of course, I forgot, that is the Republicans fault.

You see there's nothing that scares Julian Bond and the NAACP more than an accomplished and successful black person who is not a liberal and didn’t follow the blame white America doctrine to success.

Why does this scare them so much? Well, that is simple the more black people achieve on their own and the more black people stop following the blame white America doctrine the more irrelevant the NAACP becomes and if the NAACP becomes irrelevant then there will be a lot of race warlords out of a job.

Here are some other statements that Julian Bond made last week.

· George W. Bush is a liar. Of course, like all good liberals, he provides no proof of this accusation. This is because there isn't any.

· He said George W. Bush's lies (which he can't provide any evidence for) are more serious than Bill Clinton's because Clinton's lies didn't kill people. That's an interesting point of view. Here is something that the mainstream media never told you about Kosovo. Bill Clinton got the intelligence wrong on Kosovov, way wrong, so does that mean that Clinton lied and people died. Of course Julian Bond is refering to when Bill Clinton lied to a grand jury under oath something we're just supposed to ignore...but Karl Rove should be marched out of the White House in hand cuffs for supposedly doing the same thing.

· He called former Attorney General John Ashcroft "J. Edgar Ashcroft." Now, that my friends is intellect and diversity at its finest don‘t you think.

Like I said earlier Julian Bond is running scared. He sees the possibility of the end of the blame white America and the black victimization doctrine. Home ownership among black Americans is at an all-time high, Black American incomes are also the highest they have ever been and continue to rise. Blacks are graduating from colleges in record numbers and moving into highly paid jobs in finance, law, medicine, business and industry. More and more black Americans are abandoning their blame white America and victim hood mindset for a better life of accomplishment brought about their full participation in the economical system that has lifted more people out of poverty than any other system ever, capitalism. The less blacks see themselves as victims, the less they need organizations like the NAACP, and the less they need lame race warlords like Julian Bond.

In short, Julian is upset about his loss of influence and relevancy, and is resorting to old tactics to gain the spotlight again.

As far as the story about the leader of the NAACP comparing the GOP to Nazis. Watch how the mainstream media drops this topic faster that Bill Clinton dropped his pants for Monica Lewinsky in the oval office. Imagine if a Republican had said it about the Democrats….. Media Bias…

Louissianna Government Officials Turned Down Federal Aid For Katrina.

It's going to be difficult for the mainstream media to keep this one quite: did you know that Louisiana government officials turned down federal help in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina? Also, did you know that most Louisiana government officials are Democrats? Interesting.

Record Profits And They Earned It.

Exxon Mobil is experiencing record profits....and Ben Stein says they've earned every penny of it. By the way, did you know that if you took out all of the big oil company profits, you'd only save a few cents per gallon?

Sorry but I have Been Busy

Hey everyone, I apologize for the light blogging but I have been extremely busy lately with work and family. We had a death in the family, my Aunt died from cancer, so I had to catch a flight home to Illinois.

Anyways, it looks like I missed out blogging on some key events that I need to get caught up on. Let’s start with the State of the Union Address.

Bush Sounds Like FDR or JFK Democrat In SOTU.

In case you missed anything, here is the full transcript of the president's State of the Union address. Don't forget to read the Democratic response. That was so pointless I won’t even comment on it other than say it was good for a few laughs.

This just may be the harshest criticizm I have ever given about President George W. Bush but it is well deserved.

Overall I was highly disappointed with the State of the Union address given by President George W. Bush last week. I felt that it had more of a FDR or JFK democrat theme to it rather than a conservative one. Of course this seems to be the theme that will define the Presidency of George W. Bush, more spending, more handouts, and more government dependency. After all, President Bush has spent more and expanded government faster than any other administration in history, including LBJ, and that is even after money spent on the Iraq war is taken out of the equation.

So where should I start? Well for starters the State of the UNION is suppose to be a report to congress on the how our country is doing, key word being union. President Bush spent the first half of his address talking about other parts of the world such as the war on terror in the Middle East and poverty and HIV in Africa instead of America. I agree that these are serious problems that need to be addressed but not during the State of the Union address. This is suppose to be an occasion to discuss what needs to be done here at home, not how we are going to rebuild Iraq or fight HIV in Africa. It wasn’t until the second half of the speech that President Bush started addressing the actual state of the union.

It is definitely no secret that I was looking for some strong words on tax reform. It just didn’t happen though. The current tax code in this country is leading us to a path of economical disaster by punishing the activities our economy needs.

In just the last 3 weeks we have been given several warning signs about where our economy is headed. Warren Buffet, world class investor, and definitely someone who knows something about economics, has said that our biggest threat to our economy is not high fuel prices or the federal deficit. He says the greatest danger to our economy is trade deficit.

Tax reform is the answer to all of these problems. It is definitely no secret that I favor the FairTax. It is the only tax reform proposal I've seen that will fix so many of the issues we are dealing with. It will create the biggest tax haven for businesses and industries in the world. You want to see jobs that have gone overseas come back to America and then some make the Fair Tax law. You want to promote personal savings by relieving people of the tax burden when they do save then pass the Fair Tax.

Of course, President Bush never mentioned anything about the Fair Tax instead he requested a new commission to tackle the problem. So ... with all the discussion there has been on tax reform over the past year, what did Bush recommend? Nothing more than making the current tax cuts permanent. That's it.

What about illegal immigration? The issue of illegal immigration concerns Americans greatly. Bush had no choice but to address the issue. Bush said "We hear claims that immigrants are somehow bad for the economy…." I am not quite sure where he heard these claims, I haven't heard those claims. I've heard people say that illegal immigration was bad, not to mention dangerous; but I haven't heard people just saying that immigration is bad for the economy. In fact, I have heard people claim the exact opposite, that illegal immigration is a necessity for the economy. So, here we have George Bush trying to portray our concerns over illegal aliens as a general opposition to immigration. The President did state that we need stronger immigration enforcement and border protection.. but he tied that to a "guest worker program that rejects amnesty." Does this mean that everyone who is here now illegally will be rounded up and sent back? No, it means they'll be legitimized. They'll be rewarded and absolved of any criminal wrongdoing and allowed to stay. The reality is that Bush is pushing a guest worker program that includes amnesty and will only encourage more illegal immigration.

President George W Bush also talked about health care in his SOTU address. At one point he said; "Our government has a responsibility to help provide health care for the poor and the elderly." Is that so? Tell me, Mr. President, just what Article and Section of our Constitution sets forth that responsibility? The reality is that it is not the responsibility of the federal government, of any government, to provide that health care. Our founding fathers worked hard to place limits on the powers of federal government for a reason. All powers not specifically given to the federal government were reserved for the State, local, and more importantly the people.

Unfortunately it seems that is no longer the case. The American people today see no limit on the power the federal government should have.

George Will wrote an interesting column covering various aspects of the president's speech. You can read it here. In that column Will notes that there was once a time when Americans would actually question whether or not the federal government actually had the constitutional right to engage in various programs. Will says "That impulse is gone in a notion in which it seems quaint to suggest that some things are beyond the government's proper purview. Today's default position is: Washington should do it."

So instead of a "just do it" attitude we now just wait for government to do it for us. How will freedom ever survive?

Bush has been getting praise for his comments on oil dependency. The headline-grabber is that Bush said that "America is addicted to oil, which is often imported from unstable parts of the world." That's right...we're hooked on oil like a drug addict is hooked on crack, and it's our entire fault. Let’s forget about the administration's inability to begin drilling for oil in ANWR? What about our complete surrender to environmental groups who oppose any drilling for oil anywhere? What about the refusal of the President's brother to allow natural gas exploration off the precious Gulf coast of Florida? All of these solutions would add supply to an overly demanding market bringing down the price per barrel.

Instead, President Bush proposed a 22% increase in spending on the Department of Energy, to promote solar, wind, nuclear, ethanol and hydrogen energy. The president says we should reduce our imports of foreign oil by 75%....by the year 2025. So much for cutting spending.

The truth is there is nothing that resembles “small government” about President George W. Bush. The other hard truth is that the state of the union is not as strong as it used to be. The state of the union has been gradually growing weaker for decades as our nation continues to evolve from self reliant individuals to government dependent individuals and President Bush has proposed more government programs to continue the process of strengthening governments grasp on you and weakening your individual freedom, this making the strength of our union weaker.

As always, President Bush gets a high score with me on foreign policy and as Commander in Chief but he gets a C on domestic policies. Oh well, it could be worse I suppose, John Kerry could be President.

The Real Bush?

Many on the right were disappointed with the president's State of the Union address and it all comes down to one reason: bigger and bigger government. Robert Novak says it appears the younger Bush is a lot like his father in this regard.

He also points out that Bush's softer rhetoric can be stiffened as this year moves toward the serious business of midterm elections. But what happens to the blueprint for big government laid out by President Bush Tuesday night? That will not be easy to reverse.

I could not agree more.

The (blue) State of the Union address

Larry Elder recites the State of the Union address that those on the left actually thought they heard, rather than the one the president gave. He calls it the blue State of the Union. If you need a good laugh check this one out. It is hilarious.

The State of the Democrat Party.

Tony Blankley gets it right about the reaction the Democrats had to Bush's statement that Congress ignored Social Security reform. He calls it the Democrats' defining moment.

Peaceful and Tolerant Religion of Islam Outraged!!!

Muslims are outraged and rioting around the world in Europe, the Middle East, the Pacific Rim. So what are they so upset about? Are they finally upset and outraged that their religion has been hijacked by a bunch of extremists who perform violent acts against humanity? Nope, it seems that these Muslims are rioting and causing mayhem because of cartoons. Yeppers, this Muslim outrage comes to us because some newspapers in Norway and Denmark published some cartoons depicting Mohammad as a suicide bomber.

Oh the inhumanity of drawing cartoons!!! Let’s take a quick look back and see the inhumane acts committed by, do I dare say Muslims…

· Muslims fly commercial airliners into buildings in New York City. No Muslim outrage.
· Muslim officials block the exit where school girls are trying to escape a burning building because their faces were exposed. No Muslim outrage.
· Muslims cut off the heads of three teenaged girls on their way to school in Indonesia. A Christian school. No Muslim outrage.
· Muslims murder teachers trying to teach Muslim children in Iraq. No Muslim outrage.
· Muslims murder over 80 tourists with car bombs outside cafes and hotels in Egypt. No Muslim outrage.
· A Muslim attacks a missionary children's school in India. Kills six. No Muslim outrage.
· Muslims slaughter hundreds of children and teachers in Beslan, Russia. Muslims shoot children in the back. No Muslim outrage.
· Muslims murder more than 50 commuters in attacks on London subways and busses. Over 700 are injured. No Muslim outrage.
· Muslim newspapers publish anti-Semitic cartoons. No Muslim outrage
· Muslims are involved, on one side or the other, in almost every one of the 125+ shooting wars around the world. No Muslim outrage.
· Muslims beat the charred bodies of Western civilians with their shoes, then hang them from a bridge. No Muslim outrage.

The Islamic religion has been hijacked by extremist who have inflicted death, destruction and violent crimes against humanity around the world at the hands of Muslims .. no Muslim outrage ... but publish a cartoon depicting Mohammed with a bomb in his turban and all hell breaks loose.

Folks, this has very little to do about cartoons. The cartoons is nothing more than a excuse for the Muslims to riot and cause mayhem. They're rampaging through the streets burning flags, looking for Europeans to kidnap, calling for the beheading of the creator of these cartoons, threatening innkeepers and generally raising holy Muslim hell not because of any outrage over a cartoon. They're outraged because it is part of the jihadist culture to be outraged. You don't really need a reason. You just need an excuse.

I know that these savages do not represent all of the world's Muslims. When, though, do the descent non-extremist Muslims become outraged? When do they take to the streets to express their outrage at the radicals who have hijacked their religion, holding it hostage and committing atrocities in its name. Islamic writer Salman Rushdie wrote of these silent Muslims in a New York Times article three years ago. "As their ancient, deeply civilized culture of love, art and philosophical reflection is hijacked by paranoiacs, racists, liars, male supremacists, tyrants, fanatics and violence junkies, why are they not screaming?"

Seems like a question that needs answered.

Rushdie also wrote this column after 9-11, Yes, This Is About Islam.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Not all Muslims are terrorists, but so far all terrorists have been Muslim.

Seems Like We Are Winning To Me.

In case you don't already know it, insurgent attacks on our troops and security forces in Iraq are on the decline. In the 1st week of October of last year there were 700 such attacks. By mid-December that figure had dropped to 500. Just last week the number had dropped to 400. That's a 43% drop in about three months. At the same time our forces in Iraq are turning over more and more of the Iraqi territory to the Iraqi defense forces to handle. 1/4 of all operations are being done by Iraqis. Just last week military control of two large provinces in Iraq were turned over to Iraqi security forces.

Seems like we are winning to me...

Protesters Bang Pots And Pans

The left had their protestors outside the U.S. Capitol building banging pots and pans during the State of the Union Address in hopes of drowning out the President. Now that's what I call making a statement! Those of you on the left must be so proud of the effort to bring your message of diversion to the people; banging pots and pans…why I use to do that myself… when I was a toddler trying to drown out my parents!

Ronaldus Magnus Day

Today, February 6 marks the birthday of America's greatest president of the twentieth century -- Ronald Reagan.

Today we remember President Reagan for restoring America's faith and optimism. We note his efforts to reduce the size and influence of government while expanding economic freedoms here at home. We shall never forget his efforts to bring down communism and end the "Evil Empire."

I declare this day on this blog as Ronaldus Magnus Day.

SUPER BOWL XL

It should be a great one folks. My Packers where out of it real early this year so I don't really care who wins. I am leaning towards the Steelers in a nail biter. My prediction Pittsburgh 27 Seatle 24.
