The Nuclear Bomb and North Korea

O.K…so here we are....one of our biggest nightmares has become a reality. North Korea has made the nuclear bomb and has tested it!!!

So we can all forget about stopping Kim Jong-Il from acquiring a nuclear weapon. Forget about his missile tests a few months ago. Now he has done what many thought he would not do...he has tested a nuclear weapon. He set off the bomb. The world and the United States is now under a huge test, and the world will be watching, especially Iran, for our response.

The United States and the world were quick to condemn North Korea for the test. White House Spokesman Tony Snow issued this statement: "A North Korean nuclear test would constitute a provocative act in defiance of the will of the international community and of our call to refrain from actions that would aggravate tensions in northeast Asia."

South Korea is mad and issued similar statements...China is definitely upset with the situation and at one point said it may be at this time unimaginable to not use military force against North Korea. Of course they have backed away from that statement now.

Japan has probably had the smartest and best response to this crisis so far. Japan immediately sent air patrols up and airplanes to monitor radiation levels in the area. The Japanese also closed off there ports to all North Korean ships and are not allowing any North Korean nationals into Japan.

Countries around the world are issuing statements condemning the test. So what is going to happen next? What will be North Korea's punishment?

Well, only time will tell I guess, but as of now it doesn’t look like it is going to be much of anything and North Korea knows it. That's why Kim Jong Il pushed the button...he knows there aren't any consequences.

Oh sure, the U.S. says it will push for sanctions and push for China to do the same, but North Korea is already under military and economic sanctions that are not working. Of course they are not working because they are UN imposed sanctions.

Another thing, North Korea says they will not tolerate new sanctions and will declare war on any nation that imposes those sanction. So here is my question? If we go ahead and try to impose sanctions are we ready to use military action against North Korea to enforce these sanctions? More importantly, are we prepared to go to war with North Korea?

It is an important question, and one that needs to be answered and needs to be answered quickly. Regardless if we take a diplomatic approach to this crisis or not we must prepare for a possible attack and declaration of war from North Korea.

The most interesting reaction to this crisis may come from Russia. The Russian leadership said that this test is a signal for the United States to enter two-party talks with North Korea. Are you serious!!! That is what North Korea has been demanding before the tests took place! So, I guess that would make Russia's position one of appeasement.

So why does North Korea want two-party talks? Two reasons!

1. Any talks between just North Korea and the United States would legitimize the North Korean government and their power. It would make it appear that we are the only ones concerned with North Korea.

2. North Korea can't feed their own people, but a lot of U.S. money would help them. It is tough to demand money from the U.S. treasury and the taxpayers when there are four other parties in the room. It is much easier if you're only dealing with us. Let’s face it, it worked before for North Korea when Clinton was in office.

1994, in Switzerland, North Korea and the United States signed an agreement in which North Korea agreed to abandon his nuclear weapons program in exchange for us helping them build two nuclear power plants for energy purposes.

President Clinton also eased some of the economic sanctions against North Korea they also gave North Korea aide in the form of rice and grain. Kim Jong-Il was also rewarded with an official state visit from Madeleine Albright, which did absolutely no good.

Obviously that agreement wasn't worth a dime, since North Korea immediately broke it. When Bush took office they found that North Korea had been cheating on that agreement all along. North Korea was not using the nuclear power plants for power and was selling the grains that we were giving them taking that money to help build their nuclear weapons program.

It is the present Bush Administration that corrected our policy toward North Korea from one of appeasement during the Clinton Administration to one of dealing with North Korea sternly. That's what the six-party talks are for...to pressure North Korea into doing what they should be doing.

Interestingly enough, Democrat Minority Leader Harry Reid is now demanding one on one talks with North Korea. Once again the democrats have made their policy one of appeasement.

I myself believe this crisis can be solved diplomatically if done right. It will take 6 party talks to do it. However, we should also be prepared to use military force if necessary.

My biggest fear is not that North Korea will use the nuclear bomb. I don’t think they will. I do believe they would sell that bomb to the highest bidder. Someone like Al-Qaeda or Iran and there is no doubt in my mind that terrorists will use it if they had it.

I finally figured out why the Foley case makes me mad!

I have figured out why this whole Mark Foley scandal is got me so mad. It is because the Republicans are acting like Democrats. Perhaps that's been the problem with the Republicans for the last several years. They have been over spending like Democrats. They have been growing bigger government like Democrats. And now in the midst of a sex scandal, they continue to act like Democrats.

You know the Republican Party is supposed to be the party of family values. They are supposed to be the party of traditional moral values. And because of that republicans are held to higher standards than Democrats. We expect better from republicans.

Please, let’s not hear any more arguments about moral equivalency over this case. It is just not so in this one.

I have received numerous of e-mails over the last two days about how Democrat Barney Frank allegedly ran a homosexual prostitution ring out of his DC home. Also received e-mail trying to compare this scandal to the Bill Clinton and Monica situation, but it is just not the same. In those cases everyone involved was a consenting adult. In the Foley case we have a man pursuing a 16 year old teenage boy. This is far worse in my opinion.

Scandals involving pages in DC are not anything new. In 1983, Gerry Studds, a Democrat congressman from Massachusetts, and a Republican named Dan Crane, from my congressional district in Illinois, were both caught having sexual relations with pages. Crane was busted with a 17-year-old female, Studds with a 17-year-old male.

The republican congressman from Illinois Crane apologized for his actions and resigned his seat. He never got involved in politics again and is currently a dentist in Illinois. Congressman Studds however refused to apologize, and made the claim that his sexual encounter with the male page was nobody else's business. Congressman Studds took this 17-year-old boy to Morocco for their sexcapade, so that he wouldn't be violating any laws here at home. So what was the reaction of democrat voters in Massachusetts over this scandal? Well, the people of Massachusetts continued to re-elect Studds until he retired in 1996.

There also was not a Democrat House leader back then saying that the republican leadership had failed to protect the children that were entrusted to them as Nancy Pelosi is doing in the current scandal. In the Studds matter no Democrat suggested that the Democratic leadership be questioned as to what they knew about Studds' behavior, as Pelosi is doing now.

In fact Pelosi, who claims she's "for the children," was so outraged by the Studds scandal that she voted five times to make Studds a chairman of a congressional committee! And this is who's complaining about Dennis Hastert not doing enough in firing Foley immediately upon learning the content of IMs! Hypocricy is exhibited perfectly in the Democrat Party!

Trust me on this one. Pelosi's main concern is not protecting "the children." Her main concern now is maximizing the political advantage from this whole ordeal.

I still think that democrats and republicans knew or should have known that Mark Foley was preying on pages, and did little or nothing to stop it. Republicans were more concerned about loosing a seat in congress than getting rid of a sexual predator. Democrats were more concerned to holding on to the information until just the right time to destroy Foley and gain his seat instead of getting rid of a sexual predator. I'm sorry, but none of the excuses are working for me. In one of the many columns that I read on this issue the point was made that if a male congressman was writing a 16-year-old female page and asking for pictures, alarms would sound throughout Capitol Hill. Well, why not when a openly gay congressman asks for a picture from a 16-year-old male page? No red lights go off???

Right now I have had it. I am completely fed up with the Republican Party. My frustrations run way deeper than Mark Foley though. Over spending, immigration, and failure to privatize social security are just a few. Foley is just the tip of the iceberg.

One advantage that the Republicans used to hold over liberals and Democrats was their strong sense of traditional moral and family values. Can the Republican Party make that claim today? Did they take the steps necessary to protect young men in their charge from the advances of a seemingly predatory homosexual congressman?

No, I don’t want to hear the argument about what Democrats and Gerry Studds do or did. I know that Democrats excused the behavior of Ted Kennedy. I know that Bill Clinton was let off the hook for his conduct with Monica in the Oval Office ... and for the alleged rape of Juanita Broaderrick, which he has never to this day denied. They are Democrats; this kind of behavior is accepted for them. It is their pattern. Does this mean we have to now excuse the same actions for Republicans?

Unfortunately, there is just not much difference between the Democrat and Republican Parties any more.

Something extraordinary is going to have to happen in the next three weeks or so to keep the republicans in control of the House. Things could change, but as of right now I expect to see Democrats take control of the house and maybe the Senate this November. Stand by for Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Maybe some good might come out of a Republican defeat. Which scenario would you prefer? Would you rather have the Republicans gloating over another victory over the Democrats and thinking we must be doing it right we keep getting elected? Or would you rather have the Republicans in exile for two years wondering where they went wrong, and developing a plan to regain the support of the voters?

The choice is becoming increasingly clear for me.

Mark Foley sex scandal shows my ever growing disgust with both Republicans and Democrats.

Unless you have been living under a rock since Friday, you definitely have heard about Florida Republican Congressman Mark Foley.

Mark Foley resigned from the congress on Friday after the scandal of an inappropriate relationship between Foley and a former 16 year old congressional page surfaced. It would seem that Mark Foley is what we call a sexual predator who likes teenaged boys.

The story is that Mark Foley has been sending rather suggestive emails and text messages to former Congressional pages. Now there truly is no reason to go into great detail of the content of those messages here, as they are rather sick, disturbing, and disgusting stuff. However here is an idea of the sick perversion that we are dealing with from Mark Foley. Foley asked these teenage boys for pictures of themselves. In one conversation he asked the young boy if his messaging was making him horny. He asked another young boy, who wrote that he and his girlfriend has broken up "..did you spank it this weekend yourself?" Foley then went into a lengthy discussion with this boy about masturbation. Like I said, rather sick, disturbing and disgusting stuff.

There have been many news accounts that the House Republican leadership knew of Foley's actions for perhaps a year or more. Some have said that the Speaker of the House Republican Dennis Hastert of Illinois knew about, what is been called, “overly friendly e-mails” to congressional pages since 2001 ... and did NOTHING about it!!!!

Here we have a case where you have a sexual predator preying on young, under-aged teenage boys and the Republican leadership knew it! And did nothing unless you consider telling Foley to knock it off and lay low as doing something ... but that simply does not work for me.

Look these people are lawmakers. As soon as they learned of Foley's actions they should have turned the information over to the proper authorities for a full investigation of Mark Foley. For al they knew this email interaction might have been the tip of the iceberg, and you can not tell me that there were not conversations among House leadership as to whether or not there were other young men involved, and whether or not any had been physically violated by Foley.

Another thing that isn't being reported is that Democrats more than likely knew about Mark Foley as well. The Republicans kept quite in the hopes that the scandal would just go away. But if the Democrats knew why didn't they expose Foley months ago ... maybe last year? Could it be said, that Democrats decided to wait to expose Foley for their own political opportunity??? I think so. Did they hold on to this information until it was effectively too late for the Republicans to salvage that House seat with a replacement candidate? It seems very plausible with the election being less than five weeks away.

This whole case is disgusting as hell to me. We are talking about a 52 year old man having sexually explicit discussions with 16-year-old boys over whom he exercised some degree of authority. This is not a situation that calls for covering your party's political rear end. It is also not a time to withhold information to use later to exploit your political enemies. This is a situation that calls for the involvement of law enforcement right away…not when it is convenient.

In my opinion it is clear that the Republican House leadership knew something was going on here, and decided to lay low and try to exercise some control over Foley. I also believe that the Democrat leadership also knew what was going on and decided to withhold the information until it was in their best political interests to reveal it, which is exactly what they did. After all, if you are a republican it is better to keep the house than to turn in a sexual predator, and if you are a democrat better to try an exploit your enemies to try and gain control of the house than turn in a sexual predator.

Simply disgusting politics! This whole Mark Foley sex scandal shows my ever growing disgust for both the republican and democrat parties. Of course, I have been disgusted with democrats for years on end now.

Republican’s ridiculous online gambling bill.

Here is just another reason that Republicans do not deserve to regain control of the house. Could some one please tell me what right does the Federal Government of the United States have to tell a private business, a credit card company or a bank, that they cannot process payments that settle gambling bets made on the Internet? Well the congress has passed a bill that is expected to be signed by President Bush that would do just that.

Sorry folks, I don’t care what you think about gambling. Maybe you think gambling is too risky, or maybe you think gambling is a sin. It doesn’t matter, this bill is ridiculous…and here is why.

When someone places a bet on the Internet nobody's rights are being violated. No one is being denied their right to life, liberty or property through the placement of that bet. There is no role for the government to play here. This really comes down to freedom. Either we are free, or we serve as subjects to the government.

This is where the libertarian in me really gets ticked off. We in this country at some point are going to have to make up our minds. Either we are going to move toward freedom, or we are going to continue moving toward a system where the particular group in power gets to force its moral code on all of us by using the power of government legislation with bills like this.

People who support this bill will tell you that families are hurt by their breadwinners loosing all of their money on Internet gambling…True…but people also loose money on investments and stocks. Should we make those activities illegal as well? Maybe we should sit down and make a list of all of the human activities that can end up hurting families?

What about eating fast food and fatty foods? It is proven that people with a high diet of this stuff are more likely to have health problems and, in many cases early death. My God, looks like we have a negative affect on the family here, don't we? Why we need a federal law banning fatty foods.

Let's see... how about drinking. How many families have been ruined by the bottle? How many drunks have spent half the rent or mortgage at the bar? Maybe, we should make alcohol illegal.

Oh wait they already tried that with alcohol it was called prohibition. We know how that worked out.

The same thing will happen with gambling. People who gamble will continue to gamble they will just have to go back to doing it the way they did it before, illegally. They will find bookies to bet on sports in the underground crime world that is ran by the mob and other gangsters.

At least when gambling was legal online there was a safe place to do it. Now, we will have increased crime. You think a bookie is just going to take an IOU??? Oh sure he will for a while, until you are so far in the hole. Then it is either time to pay up, do him a favor, or find your body in the back of a trunk.

So now not only is gambling be a potential burden on families, it is a potential burden on society through increased crime. Way to go republicans.

Go Irish!!!! That was amazing!!! I still can't believe it!!! There was some "Touchdown Jesus" at East Lansing Michigan last week as the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame came back from 16 points down late in the fourth quarter to win 40-37. That was one of the best comebacks I have ever seen.

Looks like that winning tradition is making its way back to Notre Dame. We will see if they can keep it rolling today as the undefeated Purdue Boilmakers come to South Bend with upset on their minds.

Purdue is one of 4 undefeated teams in the Big Ten and the only one not ranked. They ride a seven game win streak into today's game and have one five of the last 10 against the Irish.

This game should be close and a good one to watch.

The big game of the day will come tonight. Ohio St. will travel to Iowa to face probably there hardest challenge since the Texas game. Look for this one to be a close game as well. If there is an upset this week this game has the ingrediants for one.

Al-Qaeda warns Muslims to get out of major US cities

Afghan terror commander hints at big attack on N.Y., Washington D.C.

Wow, this is some real terrifying stuff here. It seems that the new al-Qaida field commander in Afghanistan is calling for Muslims to leave the U.S. – particularly Washington and New York – in anticipation of a major terror attack to rival Sept. 11, according to an interview by a well known and respected Pakistani journalist Hamad Mir.

Mir, who has interviewed other Al-Qaeda members and Osama Bin Ladin in the past claims that Abu Dawood, an Al Qaeda terror leader in Afghanistan told him there is a major attack that is going to happen in America.

The attack is being coordinated by Adnan el-Shukrijumah and suggests it may involve some form of weapon of mass destruction smuggled across the Mexican border.

Hmmmm…remember when I said closing the border was about national security????

"Our brothers are ready to attack inside America. We will breach their security again," Dawood said. "There is no timeframe for our attack inside America; we can do it any time."

Adnan el Shukrijumah, a trained nuclear technician and accomplished pilot, has been singled out by bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri to serve as the field commander for the next terrorist attack on U.S. soil, a nuclear event that is known among al-Qaida planners as "the American Hiroshima."

The terrorist was last seen in Mexico, where, on Nov. 1, 2004, he allegedly hijacked a Piper PA Pawnee cropduster from Ejido Queretaro near Mexacli to transport a nuclear weapon and nuclear equipment into the U.S

Following 9/11, el-Shukrijumah was reportedly singled out by bin Laden and al-Zawahiri to spearhead the next great attack on America. One plan was for a nuclear attack that would take place simultaneously in seven U.S. cities, leaving millions dead and the richest and most powerful nation on earth in ashes.

"Muslims should leave America," said Dawood. “The American Muslims are like a human shield for our enemy; they must leave New York and Washington."

"I am saying that Muslims must leave America, but we can attack America anytime," he said. "Our cycle of warnings has been completed, now we have fresh edicts from some prominent Muslim scholars to destroy our enemy, this is our defending of Jihad; the enemy has entered in our homes and we have the right to enter in their homes, they are killing us, we will kill them."

Here is Adnan G. El Shukrijumah FBI wanted file. Take a close look and then keep your eye out for this man. It could be your life or the lives of your fellow countrymen.

Arabic-speaking individuals entering US from Mexico

Remember how I kept saying that the border problem was not just about illegal immigration but also about National Security? Remember when I made the wide open door analogy?

Here is what I said on April 18, 2005: "The Bush Administrations failure to see the security of our borders as part of the war on terror is about the same as you going out and buying the best alarm system, the baddest watchdog for your house but then leaving the doors wide open.

Well now the chief law enforcement officers of several Texas counties along the southern U.S. border warn that Arabic-speaking individuals are learning Spanish and integrating into Mexican culture before paying smugglers to sneak them into the United States. The Texas Sheriffs' Border Coalition believes those individuals are likely terrorists and that drug cartels and some members of the Mexican military are helping them get across the border. I wonder if their is a possible connection between this story and the possible Al-Qaeda attack story above.

World War on the horizon!!! Will we act before its too late.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad gave a speech to the United Nations in New York City last week and basically called for the end of the world or the Armageddon. Of course most of you may not have heard about this or seen it this way, because only one network actually covered the speech. All the newspapers either buried the story on page 24 or ignored it completely as well.

Instead of showing the reality of the evil in this guy, the media would rather show us soft ball interviews from people like Brian Williams at NBC. This was one of the stops that the Iranian president made during his tour of New York City before his speech at the UN.

During the interview with Williams, Ahmadinejad said, “In the letter I sent to Mr. Bush, I also addressed the American people. We think that the American people are like our people. They`re good people. They support peace, equality and brotherhood. They like to see the world in peace.”

Well gee, that doesn’t seem like such a bad guy now does it. He is just a man of peace and brotherhood. However, later on in the same interview Ahmadinejad had this to say.

“You should acknowledge the right and the might of the Iranian people, and you should bow and surrender to the might of the Iranian people. If you do not accept this, the Iranian people will force you to bow and surrender.”

He is referring to the United States by the way. So, I guess he is just a man of peace and brotherhood after we have bowed and surrendered to the Iranian people.

Brian Williams could have called him out on this, but instead he just smiled and danced away from confronting him. The peace and love Ahmadinejad is the one the media wants you to see. However, the Iranian leader showed his true colors in his speech at the UN that was received with great applause.

Now, I am going to give you the highlights of the UN speech here, and let me just say this is some terrifying stuff. You have to read between the lines with some of this stuff and have a better than average understanding of the Quaran and how these religious nut jobs think in the Middle East.

This speech was not meant for the American people or even the UN. In all actuality President Ahmadinejad is using this speech to try and position himself as the leader of all Arabs and Muslims who want to fight the jihad against the west, particularly the US and Israel.

“Oh, almighty God, all men and women are your creatures and you have ordained the salvation. Bestow upon humanity that thirst for justice. And make us among his followers and among those who strive for his return,” said the Iranian president.

Ahmadinejad is talking about the return of the messiah here, which according to the Quaran only can happen after the world has been cleansed with the blood of infidels. This, when he returns, it will unite the whole world under justice and peace, Islamic law.

It amazes me that the media just lets this guy slide on by and nothing is ever mentioned of all these crazy and dangerous things that Ahmadinejad says. Here is a perfect example from the UN speech as well, "America will cease to exist when our holy hatred wells up within us," he said.

I am still not sure what was more troubling, the fact that Ahmadinejad said all this or the fact that he received applauses for saying them.

It seems to be that we have an Armageddon style war on the horizon and Ahmadinejad and Iran are going to be the center of it.

Look folks, it doesn’t matter if you or I don’t believe that it’s the apocalypse. The important thing is these people do believe, and they’re dead serious. A year ago he said the end of the world would happen within three years. Don’t be fooled by the talk of peace and brotherhood.

You know, this is almost identical to watching Hitler rise to power in Germany before World War II. Just like Ahmadinejad has, Hitler also told us what he was going to do when he had the power to do it.

Unfortunately it looks like we’re making the same mistakes that Europe made on the on the eve of World War II. I just recently read the Chamberlain speech from when he got back from the pact with Hitler. He actually thought that Hitler could change and was committed to becoming a statesman. Six months later, Hitler runs across Europe in conquest of World Power, the same goal of the Muslim world.

Millions of lives could have been saved if Hitler had been confronted earlier. Will the United States make the same mistake with Ahmadinejad that England made with Hitler? Will the rest of the World sit back and do nothing until it is almost too late?

THE END OF AMERICA?

CBS has a new show named “Jericho” that will be about life in a small town after America is destroyed. The show is on Wednesday nights at 8pm ET.
I have not seen the show but the story line that I have gathered is the end comes from a nuclear attack.

After hearing about the show I began thinking how likely is it that the greatest nation ever given to man could fall in my lifetime. I came to the conclusion that it is very likely and its happening before our eyes.

The show may be right about the end of America. However, they are probably wrong about how the greatest nation will end. Although it is possible that terrorism could be the end of not just America but the world. The death of America will more likely come from within through the advancement of the American welfare state.

Every society, country, empire, has a life expectancy. I have researched and found that through out the history of civilization a country based on freedom and economic liberty has generally lasted a little bit over 200 years. If you know of any society founded on freedom and economic liberty that made it well past the 200 year mark let me know, I have not been able to find a single one. The US Constitution was ratified on December 15th, 1791. That means the United States is soon to be 214 years old and has out lived its life expectancy.

There are, what I believe to be, 4 turning points that can be attributed to the decline of and will eventually lead to the end of the United States of America.

1. The adoption of a progressive or graduate income tax, as envisioned by Karl Marx.
2. The adoption of a government or public education system for our children, again as envisioned by Karl Marx.
3. The movement away from a rule of law to a rule of the majority (Democracy) which really took hold during the days of Franklin Roosevelt.
4. The abolition of Private Property Rights such as what we have seen recently with “eminent domain”

America, the welfare state, is growing steadily. Last year we started the Republican’s Medicare prescription drug program. The original estimates for this program are about $300 billion for the next ten years. Those estimates doubled before the program even began. Baby boomers will be retiring over the next decade. As they retire they will start drawing down Social Security and Medicare dollars at an alarming rate. The cost will be enormous. As presently structured, these income transfer programs can't handle it, but all attempts at reform for these programs like Social Security have failed.

With real freedom comes individual responsibility, responsibility to make life what you make it, the responsibility to reap the benefits and live with the consequences of your own actions. Americans are no longer in love with freedom. In fact, the case can be made that Americans are afraid of freedom. Oh, they want to be free to go on vacation and to chose where to live, who to marry and what to wear each day, but that is just about it. Americans of today want the government and expect the government to educate their children, guarantee their jobs, determine their wages, provide them with medical care, pay for their prescriptions, ensure their comfort in retirement, regulate their business competitors, bail them out of hard times, and control the actions of their neighbors. If anyone suggest for one moment that the responsibility for any of these factors be placed back into the hands of the individual the outrage will be heard across the country.

If the networks want to do a series on the end of America, their script has already been written and the end is comming from within.

Bill Clinton looses his cool durring interview with Fox News.

Poor Bill Clinton... He is still out there trying to save his legacy. Clinton sat down with FOX News Sunday's Chris Wallace last night in what turned out to be a rather intense interview when Bill Clinton lost his cool. [video] My favorite part was when Clinton told Wallace, "You did your nice little conservative hit job on me."

I almost fell out of my chair I was laughing so hard.

It seems that Bill Clinton just doesn't particularly care to be criticized for his failure to pursue Osama bin Laden.

This was the first interview that Bill Clinton has ever done with the FOX News Channel and it stareted out rather well with Wallace asking a smiling Bill Clinton about his new Clinton Global Initiatives program.

Then Wallace asked a question that viewers had e-mailed in. Why didn't Clinton do more to put Al-Qaeda and Bin Ladin out of business? This is where Clinton erupted --- immediately going into defensive mode. Clinton claimed he did more to kill Osama Bin Laden than the Bush Administration did in the first 8 months it was in office. He's upset that the Bush Administration is never criticized for that.

In his defense to Wallace's question Clinton relied strongly on the statements of Richard Clark, Clinton's chief anti-terrorist operative during his presidency.

Now, I have done some research on just what Richard Clark's assesment was of Clinton's efforts and found them not to be all that positive.

In a 2004 CNN interview Richard Clark spoke of one particular Clinton attempt to "get" Osama bin Laden. "Clinton bombed them once; the public reaction was negative to that. Remember 'wag the dog?' Everyone said Clinton is just bombing Afghanistan to divert attention from the Monica business. And so he didn't bomb them again."

Now Clinton brings this up in the interview and criticizes the right for saying he was just wagging the dog and whatever but the point is he stopped bombing because of negative public reaction.

In other words Bill Clinton lacked the leadership to make a desicion based on what needed to be done for the best of the country. Instead he uses negative public reaction for not bombing them again. Gee, now that doesn't make it look as if Clinton was quite as dedicated to the idea of killing Osama bin Laden as he would have had us believe, does it?

Oh but wait, there is more. The 9/11 Commission report says that in December of 1999 Richard Clark sent Clinton a memo urging an attack on Al Qaeda bases before the millennium. Sandy Berger wrote back on the memo "No." Seriously... that shows the kind of dedication the Clinton Administration had to get bin Laden and shut Al-Qaeda down now, doesn't it.

Country Boy's College Football Picks of the Week.

Well my fighting Irish can pretty much kiss there national title hopes goodbye after that pathetic performance against Michigan Saturday... It is going to take a miracle to get there now!!! Hopefully today they can get some respect back in East Lansing, Michigan... I am not sure where the fighting Irish was Saturday but they weren't in South Bend, Ind. I mean I could catch a football better than that!!!

5 turnovers and 4 yards rushing not very impressive at all... I guess the Ohio St vs Notre Dame title game is just not going to happen this year...

What is impressive is my picks from last week. I finished the week with an 8-2 record against the spread and improved on the season to 19-11

What to watch this week:

This week we got Penn St vs Ohio St.

The Nittany Lions will try to knock the Buckeyes from the top of the tree in Columbus today. It is just not going to happen though. I think the game will be closer than most expect though.

Notre Dame vs Michigan St.

The fighting Irish travel to East Lansing with revenge on their minds from last years 44-41 overtime loss to the Spartans at South Bend. They will also be trying to get some RESPECT back after last weeks performance against Michigan. This is a must win for the Irish and a must win big. It is time for Charlie Weiss to let the dogs loose on offense.

However, win big they won't. This game is going to be a shoot out similar to last years game and may come down to who has the ball last.

According to the Daily Kos President Bush is responsible for the E-Coli outbreak because two or three years ago the Bush Administration cut funding and staff from the Food and Drug Administration. The Kos went on to say Bush cannot protect you from anything. Not Terrorism. Not Hurricanes. Not even bacteria.

Amazing, the left really does blame him for everything.

9-11: Five years later, Where are we now and where are you?

It is hard to believe that it has already been 5 years since Islamic Terrorists flew commercial airliners into the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. As with other monuemental days in history such as when JFK was shot or when the Challenger space shuttle blew up in the sky most people that are old enough to remember it can tell you exactly were they were at, and what they were doing when they heard the news. The same holds true for 9-11.

All day tuesday most people reflected on what happened that day, and how they felt. I am sure most people either told stories or heard a story or two about what they were doing that day or how it changed their lives. How it changed our country and the world we live in. How we all came together as a country after the attacks. How immediately following the terrorists attacks there were flags flying everywhere, people realized we were at war and were dedicated to fighting and winning that war. All of this is fine and should be done. It is important to remember that day and relive those feelings. It is important to remember so that we don't forget. However there are some other things we should consider as we remember 9-11. Perhaps the more important thing to think about is where are we as a country and where are you five years later?

Five years later we are still at war. A war for the survival of civilization against islamic terrorists who has declared war on the rest of the civalized world. It’s a war like we have never seen before, from an enemy that is determined to destroy us, even if it means destroying themselves. They will kill you, your family, and your children with a smile and will wipe out all civilization in the blink of an eye if given the opportunity. All in the name of Allah and to gain an islamic state over the world. World Islamic dominance is the main goal and they are dedicated to their cause. Are we as dedicated to stopping them?

Five years later we are still at war but we are a country divided at a time we need to be united. Immediately following the 9-11 attacks we all waved our flags, we were supporting our President and the troops and we were united together to win this war on terror. And for a while the war went well and the terrorist where running for the caves. Now the flags are gone, people have gone on with there everyday lives, many only letting the war intrude occasionally. Our President is attacked daily for political gain from the left. Some would rather blame our own country instead of terrorism. The left continues to fight the Bush Administration instead of fighting the war. Our enemies now view us as weak and growing weaker without the resolve to keep fighting. Attacks are picking up in Iraq and Afghanistan because of it.

What has happened to America’s dedication to the war on terror? Where is our self assurance that we are the best hope for Freedom, Democracy, and Civilization?

Whether we as a nation ever wanted the responsibility of defending freedom, fighting for democracy, and saving the civilizations of the world is no longer up for debate.

Ever since fighting the Nazis and liberating France in WWII to defeating communism and bringing Democracy to the Soviet Block in the cold war America has been the shinning light for freedom and a magnet for attack by the forces of tyranny.

This is why they attacked us because we are a free society with human values that destroys their dream of Islamic world domination and it didn't start on 9-11 either. There has been numerous attacks over the years. The 1983 truck bombing of a marine barracks in Beirut Lebanon, Pan Am flight 103, the first World Trade Center basement bombing, and the USS Cole are just a few. Terrorist had declared war on us long before the 9-11 attacks and they continue to fight today. America was targeted because we repeatedly show that we can change our own leadership without violence, without bloodshed and turmoil. America was targeted because we are a nation that demonstrates how many different religions; Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism; can live and prosper together. We were targeted because we have shown the world that a rule of law, not the mindless and cruel dictates of a religious cult, can protect the peace and ensure the harmony of people of all faiths living together in liberty.

All of the terrorist attacks mentioned have been a direct attack on our freedoms. It has been five years since the 9-11 attacks. The offices that were destroyed at the Pentagon are re-opened for bussiness and the World Trade Center is now a construction project. Physical damage is easy to repair or recover from. However the damage to our national mindset may not be.

Islamic terrorists have a lot to celebrate other than the destruction and the death they have caused. Their hatred of our freedoms caused them to attack, and our love of freedom has become a casualty.

An annual poll on the public's attitudes and views toward our Bill of Rights show that majority of people who responded to this poll feel we have too many freedoms in America, and they are perfectly willing to trade some of these freedoms for protection against further attacks from the Islamic terrorists. Over one-half of the people who participated in this poll said that the rights protected in the first ten amendments to our Constitution were too broad, and they needed to be scaled back all in the name of security.

Too many freedoms??? amendments to our Constitution need to be scaled back in the name of security??? The founding fathers must be spinning in their graves.

As it turns out freedom of the press is the least favorite of the freedoms in the Bill of Rights. Think about that for a moment. That very portion of our First Amendment that protects our right to a free flow of information about a power that can legally use deadly force to accomplish its goals, our government, and this is the least popular portion of our Bill of Rights?

Every tyrant needs complete control over the means of communication. China controls access to the Internet, as do many other totalitarian countries. You can be jailed in many Islamic theocracies for simply owning a satellite dish. When leftist revolutions occur, the sources of communication and information are the first things to be seized. In America – post 9/11 – we have a majority of citizens who will profess their love of freedom and America; but who, on the other hand, will tell you that there is just too much freedom of the press, and the government needs to do something about it. The first ten ammendments of the constitution are too broad and nead to be scaled back, limited, or narrowed. This is what we call choosing security over freedom.

There was a time when America was secure but not free. Our security came from the King of England. Until a group of brave men met in 1776 to sign the Decleration of Independence. These men pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to the cause of freedom. Their signatures made them traitors in the eyes of the King of England. Rewards were posted for their capture – and the British armada was waiting offshore where they would definately be killed if captured. Sign, and risk losing everything? Or not sign and live securely, though not free, under British rule? That was the desicion these men had to make.

Would we as American's choose the path of liberty today? Would the same people who think that our Bill of Rights goes too far be willing to pledge their lives, their fortune and their honor to fight for freedom above security? Many of the men who signed the Declaration died because of that signature. Others lost their property, their liberty and their families. They new the risks when they signed it. Do men like that walk among us today? Are we, as Americans, worthy of their sacrifice?

Today our government can and has seized American citizens and locked them away without any due process. Our property can be confiscated through the abuse of eminant domain. The British did much the same thing. Then we fought the injustice. Today we make excuses for it

Former President Ronald Reagan once said, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children's children what it was once like in the United States where men were free."

Five years later and the war is not over we are still fighting to protect freedom agaist Islamic terrorists. A war that will not be over for years to come, not in the middle east, not in Europe and not here. As I write this there are terrorists plotting, scheming, and waiting patiently for the right moment to hit us again just like they have been for over 20 years because they hate our freedom and our way of life.

On the fifth anniversary of September 11th it is important to honor those who died and those who protected us. Maybe after that we can try to rededicate ourselves to the principals that brought us the men and women who put their lives on the line in 1776. America is great because we are free. America is great because those who came before us valued freedom above security. America was attacked because our freedom is a threat to tyrants, religious and otherwise. Are you one of those who profess your willingness to trade away some of that freedom? Is it security you now seek?

What is our choice going to be? Will we chose a secure life overseen by government as the warden, or will we chose the brilliant uncertainty of freedom that has enabled America to prosper for over 200 years?

Everyone knows where they were on 9-11 five years ago. Now it's five years later, where are we now and where are you?

Great week for college football. Ohio State rolled over Texas. Notre Dame pounded Penn St. Brady Quinn looking like that Heisman candidate.

It was a rough week of picking games last week though. I ended up breaking even with a 5-5 record against the spread with an overall season record of 11-9. So at least i am still over .500.

That was not a bad week of college football. There were some great games last week. The Notre Dame vs. Georgia Tech game was a lot better than I thought it would be. I completely underestimated GTs defense. How were they not ranked. Georgia Tech is a top ten football team just no one knows it yet. They will be in the top ten by end of the season.

Sorry folks, I have a lot on my mind but no time to blog about. So here are a few things that other people wrote that I found worthy enough to read. Here are my suggested reading assignments.

Here is an interesting blog that I stumbled accross by a guy that calls himself Captain Capitalism! A true economist. In this blog entry the Captain puts to final rest once and for all the idea that Bush's economic policies are creating more poor people in America. Gotta read this!

And how about another blog for you to read ...especially if you are somewhat lacking in your understanding of economics. The blog is called back talk the post is entitled "Americans Hate their Fabulous Economy." Man those economist sure like their graphs....

Liberal columnist Juan Williams says its time for young African Americans to stop embracing a blueprint for failure. It's an excellent column titled "Banish The Bling." Don't miss this one.

Tony Blankley provides us with a lesson in the history of appeasement and offers an opinion as to whether or not appeasement will work with radical Islamists.

Kathleen Parker says that sensible people are reconsidering our government's opposition to profiling in the search for terrorists. "Sensible people" huh? Well, when are the liberals going to get on board?

Ahhhhh ... but here comes a liberal to tell us that profiling is "unAmerican." What was that Kathleen Parker wrote about "sensible people?"

Thomas Sowell says the only difference between today's liberals and the now-defunct Soviet Empire is that the Soviet Union imposed its doctrine by force. You may be shocked by the similarities, though.

Has Iraq turned into George W. Bush's Vietnam? Rich Lowry of National Review Online examines the question and concludes that Iraq isn't the president's Vietnam...yet. He does wonder if Bush realizes how close he is, though.

A Forbes magazine editor has stirred the pudding with a column that says men shouldn't marry a woman with a career. Michael Noer says professional women are more likely to cheat and get divorced...

Spike Lee made a four-hour documentary for HBO about Hurricane Katrina. Star Parker says the production is about as big of a disaster as the hurricane itself. Read on to find out what she didn't like about it.

Reportedly Saddam Hussein was made to watch the 'South Park' movie over and over again, in which Saddam is portrayed as Satan's lover. If this is true, that would be hilarious. Of course the democrats will be screaming prisoner abuse over this one.

And now random thoughts from Thomas Sowell. Which are more interesting and organized than most people's regular thoughts. Among his observations: temperatures aren't as high these days as they were back in medieval times, meaning those people must have driven a lot of SUVs.

Maybe now we'll get some Hollywood types on board with the Fair Tax plan. The Internal Revenue Service has announced their intent to go after celebrities who don't declare the value of their Oscar goodies as income.

Iraq has proven to be a challenge to the United States, but Mark Steyn reminds us that the world is watching what we do there. If we cut and run, then countries around the world will think that's what we're all about.

This makes my country boy blood boil!!!!

Anti-war merchandise uses names of Iraqi Veteran Killed in Action!!! To include my friend's name!

As most of you know I am an Operation Iraqi Freedom Veteran and I lost a good friend while in Iraq which is probably why this makes my country boy blood boil way over the lid.

It was brought to my attention this morning that there is a real true genuine dirt bag in
Arizona that is selling anti-war merchandise and using the names of fallen soldiers in Iraq.

So I checked it out and sure enough it is true. The above picture can be purchased as a t-shirt, refridgerator magnet, or car magnet and it contains 1,700 names of soldiers killed in action in Iraq including my friend's name Marshall L Edgerton.

Now don't get me wrong here folks. I don't care that this bastard, Dan Frazier, is selling anti-war merchandise. He has the freedom of speech and it is his right to do so. What I do have a problem with is using the names of fallen soldiers to make a dollar and to push a political agenda.

This is not about right or left, conservative or liberal, Democrat or Republican. It is not about freedom of speech or anything like that. It is about decency, respect for the dead and the families of the dead. However, I guess some people are lacking in this department.

Marshall should be remembered for who he was. A loving husband and father. A soldier who gave the ulimate sacrafice.

Marshall died as a hero. But not just because he died on the battlefield fighting for his country, but because of the actions he took right before he died.

In the moments before his death, he used every last breath to warn all those around him, because he saw it coming and new he couldn't save himself. He did not choose to coward in fear, but instead chose to sacrifice himself so that others may live.

He saved many lives that day, and will forever be remembered for his courage, and bravery, and for making the ultimate sacrifice for his Country, and for his comrades.

This is what my friend Marshall should be remembered for not as a name on the back of an anti-war t-shirt that he would have had no part of when he was alive!

God Bless you "Edge." There is not a day that goes by that I don't think about you. I am honored to have been able to call you friend.

As far as I am concerned this scumbag who is trying to use Marshal's death to promote his own political agenda shouldn't be allowed to breathe the same air as me...

This a-hole and people like him do not deserve one minute of freedom from the amount of time that has been sacrificed on their behalf.

Iran

Things continue to heat up with Iran as they continue to give the U.N. the U.S. and the rest of the world the finger and refuse to stop there nuclear program.

In fact, Iran announced today that it had tested a new air defense system to counter missiles and aircraft during large-scale military exercises throughout the country, state-run.

Footage showed at least four surface-to-air missiles being fired from mobile launching pads. The report did not mention whether or not the missile was equipped with a guidance system.

Iran's military test-fired a series of missiles during large-scale war games in the Persian Gulf, including a missile it claimed was not detectable by radar that can use multiple warheads to hit several targets simultaneously.

Iran also announced yesterday that it will host a conference to examine what they call exaggerations about the Holocaust, during which more than 6 million Jews were killed by the Nazis.

Iran says they are willing to talk about their nuclear program but that they will not stop there uranium enrichment before hand.... So I guess that would mean there is really nothing to talk about then....Iran also made sure to let the world know that the attitude of a hostile United States was to blame for the crisis....Simply amamzing, this is like watching Hitler in 1938 as the world tried to appease him...Think about how many lives were lost because we waited and waited until Hitler was so powerful before anything was done about him.....will we make the same mistake twice.

Unfortunately it looks like we will. The European Union will meet one more time with Iran to try and convince them to stop there enrichment program. Kofi Annan says negotiations are the best solution, but if the next meeting doesn't go as well then it is straight to the security council for possible sanctions against Iran.... Ooooh...not the big bad security council. I bet that really has Iran shaking in their turbans.

It's time for the East Coast to go into panic mode again...

Bush: U.S. Must Break Foreign Oil Dependency for Growth- Video: Labor Day Speech

In his labor day speech today President Bush mentioned that the unemployment rate is 4.7% which is real good. Of course the New York Times and CNN keep saying how bad it is out there. It amazes me that when Bill Clinton was president and the Unemployment rate was 5.5% its the best economy in years... However, since its President Bush it doesn't matter how low the unemployment rate is...its bad out there folks. The economy sucks, the country sucks, Bush sucks and its all Bush's fault...In fact it's Bush's fault that he sucks too.

He also happened to mention our dependency on foreign oil and said it was not good for our growth because we get oil from people who do not like us. One of the things he mentioned was to build more nuclear power plants...interesting I have been blogging about that for years... Maybe the president is reading My Two Cents Worth...or not.

Crocodile Hunter dead at 44

Steve Irwin died doing what he loved best, getting too close to one of the dangerous animals he dedicated his life to protecting with an irrepressible, effervescent personality that propelled him to global fame as television's "Crocodile Hunter."

Irwin's heart was pierced by a Stingray off the coast of Australia today while filming a TV show about the Great Barrier Reef.

Amazing...this man wrestles with crocodiles and gets killed by a Stingray... Just proves my whole theory we are all on borrowed time and you just don't know when it is going to be time to pay up. When it's your day to go, it's your day. No matter what you are doing.

Of course the media is going into panic mode... Are Stingrays now something else we have to worry about at the beach while in the ocean I heard on CNN.

Give me a break...

You know now that I think about it I bet this is President George W. Bush's fault. Yeah, that Stingray was so close to the shore because of global warming...and we all know George W. Bush caused global warming.

Interceptor downs missile in test over Pacific

An interceptor missile destroyed a mock warhead over the Pacific Ocean on Friday in a key test of the nation's missile defense system, U.S. military officials said.

The 54-foot interceptor missle was launched at 10:39 a.m., from the Ronald W. Reagan Missle Defense Site, located at Vandenberg Air Base in Calif. 17 minutes after the mock warhead was launched from Kodiak Island, Alaska, Lehner said.

The interceptor carried a refrigerator-size "kill vehicle" that locked on to the approaching mock enemy missile and flew into the 4-foot-long warhead at 18,000 mph.

Lehner said both disintegrated more than 100 miles above Earth and a few hundred miles west of Vandenberg. The interceptor's flight lasted 13 minutes.

The $85 million test was designed to see whether the "kill vehicle" could get close to the warhead to test the tracking and sensor systems which would be used in an actual missile attack.

This is a major break through for us. Especially with North Korea and Iran threatening with nukes. Let's not forget that on the 4th of July, North Korea unsuccessfully test-fired a missile that was believed capable of reaching the northwestern U.S. coast.

Thank God for former President Ronald Reagan's vision of having a missle defense system. He started this program in 1983 with heavy criticism from the democrats who said the cost was not worth the outcome. The U.S. has spent over 100 billion dollars on this program over a 23 year period. If this can stop a long range missle comming from North Korea or anywhere else, I say it is worth every penny spent.

North Korea condemns U.S. missile test

North Korea has come out and called our missile defense test a threat and vowed to strengthen its defense measures in response.

Something called the North Korea's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland, whatever that is, released a statement saying the U.S. test, which was conducted Friday over the Pacific Ocean, "was aimed at attacking us and intercepting our missiles."

"...intercepting our missles." Well duh! Are they serious... Of course they had to throw in the "attacking us" in there as well. Not sure how you attak with a defense system designed to blow missles out of the sky... but I digress.

The committee also called the United States the "the main culprit" in the threat of war on the Korean peninsula.

"It is a folly that the United States wields the truncheons of power in order to scare someone into submission ... This only leads the army and the people to firm up their determination to build up our self-defensive military deterrence," the statement said.

Riiight... it's our fault that North Korea threatens the world with nuclear weapons and how dare us, how dare us ever plan to defend ourselves from the likes of mad men with potential nukes.

UN deadline on Iran's uranium enrichment program ends: Iran tells US to screw off.

The Iran threat is growing out of control, what are our options, and what should we do.

The deadline for Iran to stop enriching uranium and shutdown there nuclear weapons program came to an end yesterday. Iran responded to the deadline by basically telling the world to stick it where the sun don't shine. Here is what the leader of the terrorists state Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said, "The Iranian nation will not succumb to bullying, invasion and the violation of its rights." Now, that doesn't sound like a leader that is worried about the rest of the world doing something about his nuclear weapons program.

So what will happen now that they have thumbed their noses and said screw the deadline we are not stopping??? Not much of anything and Iran knows it.

President Bush says there must be consequences and says the United States will pursue sanctions against Iran, even if a majority of the U.N. Security Council won't.

But if you read further into the story andwatch whats going on behind the scenes you will find that after the mention of Iran's defiance and the president's response, we see statements from John Bolton at the U.N. that nothing is going to happen until Europe's foreign policy chief meets with Iran's top negotiator.

Once again, the United States is turning over our national security interests to the appeasing Euro-weiners of the European Union. The EU will now negotiate some sort of slap on the wrist with Iran. We will be worse off than what we were when we started because now we look even weaker in the eyes of Ahmadinejadand he will become even more bolder than before.

So the appeasment routine continues with Iran. It continues for one simple reason. Iran is playing a game with the world and they are winning the game because they know that they have something that the world needs and they have a lot of it, oil. Iran is dealing from a position of strength and they know it.

Some of you may recall that I have been giving the warning for a couple years about how our dependency on foreign oil is a huge national security risk and that we should start drilling our own oil. Do you understand the national security risk of oil dependency. If we had started drilling our own oil two years ago we would not be in this situation with Iran. Iran would not be able to use there oil for leverage against us.

We could still do it though. If we want to send a power message of our own to Iran we should pass a unanimous resolution through congress calling for the immediate drilling of oil in the part of the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge that was originally set aside for oil drilling. Then pass another resolution opening up the coastlines for oil and gas exploration. There is a lot of untapped oil in the Gulf of Mexico. Also we should start converting the oil shale in Utah, Nevada and Wyoming into oil, start some coal gasification projects, and start issuing permits for nuclear power plants.

This would send a clear message to Iran that we are going energy dependent. In a few years Iran can choke on their oil cause will have our own.

That will never happen though because the enviromentalist will never allow it to happen. Even in the interest of national security will they not allow this to happen.

Let us take a moment and ponder what would a Iran with nukes be like. Lets say Iran makes some nukes. They then take a nuke and sneak it into this country through our weak border protection perhaps in a van. They place this van with the nuke in some random place in a metropolitan area. Lets say they do the same thing in some Western European country. Then they conduct a nuclear test in Iran. The world goes into panic...Iran has the bomb!

As the world reacts to the Iranian nuclear test, Tehran announces to the world that there is a bomb like the one they tested somewhere in the United States. There's another in some Western European country. The world is then informed that both of these bombs will be detonated unless certain Islamic demands are met.

What demands? Well, how about the removal of all U.S. and Western troops out of the Middle East for starters. Then all Jews are told to leave Israel or face annihilation. The U.S. is told that if we dare to defend Israel, the bomb will be detonated. At this point the Islamic fascists have complete control over the entire Middle East. All moderate Arab governments will collapse. Iran will then controll all oil supplies in the Middle East and the Western world will be held hostage to Iranian demands.

Is there anything in this scenario that is to far fetched from happening. I don't think so. It is really not that complicated of a plan. Sure there are as many scenarios as there are people who come up with them but any way you look at it Iran with a nuke is not a pleasent thought.

So what are our options at this juncture in time:

1. Diplomacy
2. Sanctions
3. Military Action

Diplomacy

Diplomacy is not going to work. The main reason it is not going to work is because the United States is seen as weak to the Arab world right now. Diplomacy only works when you are perceived as having strength.

Right after 9-11 when President George W. Bush first initiated the war against Radical Islam and we went into Afghanistan and Iraq we were seen as strong and full of resolve. The Arabic world responded to that image of strength and determination. Libya immediately halted its weapons programs. Saudi Arabia started to institute reforms that called for more democratic processes. Syria was in fear that America would not stop at its border with Iraq.

Then Democrats and the anti-war crowd started up there Bush lied people died campaign. We got the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal. Then we had democrats calling for a timetable in Iraq. Islamic fascists who once feared that a dangerous and resolute America had been pushed too far suddenly saw signs of weakness. The islamic terrorists knows we are loosing are will to fight.

Diplomacy? Sorry .. but we're operating from a position of weakness in any diplomatic discussions with Iran. It is just not going to work.

Sanctions

Oh sure, the U.S. could impose sanctions, but I am sure Iran learned from Saddam Hussein how to set up whatever avenues are required to assure the flow of cash needed to sustain Iran's armament program. Remember the oil for food program.

In the meantime, they would immediately crank up the public relations volume to tell the world that Iranian women and children are dying because the evil U.S. is denying Iran the funds needed for basic nutrition and health needs through the sanctions imposed against them.

Ahmadinejad is not above starving his own people to get images of death that can be broadcast worldwide and blamed on the U.S. and their sanctions.

With sanctions the United States will soon be portrayed as a evil imperialistic regime set out on a course of genocide against the Iranian people and the world media will be happy to promote that image.

Military Action

This would seem like a simple solution. We just send in the military to destroy as much of Iran's nuclear infrastructure as possible. An air raid should do the job. Just send in some bombers and thats that.

However it is just not that simple. Six months ago it may have been but not now.

See Iran has been paying attention. They know that America is worried about there image through out the world. They know there is a huge group of Americans on the left that would be outraged if we killed civilians with the use of military action. Because of this Iran knows America will not do anything militarily if military action would mean civilian deaths.

So, Ahmadinejad has surrounded the Iranian nuclear development sites with as many Iranian school children and women as possible. He has taken steps to guarantee that any Israeli or U.S. air strike against his nuclear program will result in the deaths of hundreds of women and children.

Anyways, there are the options. Aren't you glad you are not the President? I would go with military action myself. As the President of the United States I would be more concerned with protecting American lives. Besides in my opinion if Ahmadinejad wants to surround a military target with civilians then their blood is on his hands when that target is hit not ours.

However sanctions will probably be the first step from the Bush administration, but eventually I believe military action will have to be used.

Houston paying huge price for Katrina evacuees.

Last week on Fox News' Special Report with Brit Hume they reported on some statistics on the increase in crime in Houston, Texas since the Katrina evacuees showed up. Since Katrina, Houston has experienced a 17% increase in homicides. At least 34 murders have been committed by Katrina evacuees. The price tag to Houstonians for the increased crime related to Katrina evacuees is around $18 million.

This is not at all surprising to me. This was the same crime culture that plagued the city of New Orleans. I just feel sorry for the people of Houston who now have a big problem on their hands because the likelihood of the evacuees ever returning to New Orleans is slim.

By the way... Is it still accurate to call them Katrina evacuees at this point...hmmm how about Katrina floaters...or Katrina debris.

CNN Kyra Phillips takes national bathroom break.

Oooooops!!! Looks like someone at CNN has messed up again.

Last week durring coverage of President Bush's Katrina Aniversary speech someone decided to leave anchor Kyra Phillips mic on while the president was speaking. Well apparently Kyra didn't know her mic was on and decided to use the ladies room. [video].

So while the CNN audience watched the President give his speech what they actually heard was Phillips using the restroom. They heard her unzip and zip up. A conversation with a co-worker about her brother and his apparent "control freak" wife. This went on for almost 90 seconds.

Now 90 seconds is an eternity in broadcasting. One has to wonder if anyone at CNN was even watching the speech to allow this to happen for 90 seconds. One also wonders if CNN did see it happen and just allowed it to continue for a while. It's not the first time they have screwed up a Bush Administration speech. Remember the black X on Vice President Cheney's head. Who knows...

There is one thing for sure. Thanksgiving at the Phillips house is going to be real interesting this year. Calling your sister in law a "control freak" on National Television will do that. To bad there won't be an open mic at that table. Maybe we can get one of those ridiculous reality TV shows started off of this incident.
