Jeff Jacoby says the GOP got the boot not because they were too conservative, but because they weren't conservative enough. This is evident on so many fronts...spending, government expansion, illegal immigration, and so on. Jacoby says republicans should have expected it. Even Bill Clinton said a week before the election they would lose because they abandoned there conservative principles.
