It seems that Gen. David Petraeus and the troop surge may have been just the right medicine for Iraq. In what seemed to be a lost cause just a few months ago now seems to be showing signs of progress. In fact the news is so good coming out of Iraq not even the New York Times can ignore it.
Michael E. O’Hanlon and Kenneth Pollack just got back from meeting with American and Iraqi military personnel and have some real good news to share in this New York Times Op-Ed piece titled A War We Just Might Win. O’Hanlon and Pollack write: “Here is the most important thing Americans need to understand: We are finally getting somewhere in Iraq, at least in military terms. As two analysts who have harshly criticized the Bush Administration’s miserable handling of Iraq, we were surprised by the gains we saw and the potential to produce not necessarily “victory” but a sustainable stability that both we and Iraqis could live with.”
You will have to read the rest of the article that is filled with all kinds of good news from Iraq. If you are a democrat, or plan on showing this to a democrat, I must warn you, such good news has been known to depress democrats and make them take irate action.

Wow....i can't believe the New York Times actually printed this!
shocking stuff...
“there is enough good happening on the battlefields of Iraq today that Congress should plan on sustaining the effort at least into 2008.”
This from two reporters who went to Iraq looking for a failed policy...
"Everywhere they turned Army and Marine units focused on securing the Iraq population, working with Iraqi security units, creating new political and economic"
"arrangements at the local level and providing basic services; electricity, fuel, clean water and sanitation to the Iraqi population."
I really can't believe the New York Times printed this...amazing.
