Why Isn't Mexico A Prosperous Land?

Mexico President Vincent Fox is upset that the United States is actually considering building a wall along a part of its southern border. Victor Davis Hanson says what's pathetic is that so many people who live in Mexico want to leave.

Hanson brings up a good point. How is it that in a country like Mexico that sits atop vast mineral and petroleum reserves, enjoys a long coastline, temperate climate, rich agricultural plains-- cannot or will not make the necessary political and economic reforms to feed and house its own people. The Mexican people should be prospering not trying to leave. Don't miss this one.
